| It is important to understand how refractory materials react to water evaporation during drying out as this can cause explosive spalling and seriously damage equipment especially at temperatures between 200°C - 320°C (390°F - 610°F). Lowering temperatures is also critical, as residual stresses in the lining can cause breakage of the refractory material. Services Mobile Thermetco’s team performs on-site refractory dry out using high velocity gas burners or electric resistance elements according to the type of treatment required. Our high velocity gas burners use an excess air volume to obtain low temperature combustion gasses. Massive air circulation helps dry the refractory lining while maintaining good thermal uniformity. Depending on the type of refractory material, dry out operations can extend over very long periods at temperatures of up to 1300°C / 2400°F. |
